Acceptance
A simple message to all around,
To friends and relatives alike:
“Acceptance is all I want.”
It is my craving, my one simple need.
Acceptance, of who I am,
Of who I can be, and what I want to be.
Acceptance, of my sense of humour,
And equally, of my sorrow as well.
Acceptance of my terrible rages
And my trivial quirks.
This is all I request and demand,
Nothing more, but certainly, nothing less.
Accept the fact that I am just me,
Not a clone, a blind follower
Or even an example.
Accept me as a relative, a friend,
Or even a foe.
But never even dare to try and remold
What the good Lord, in His humour
Has wrought as a self-portrait of sorts.
For if you even but try,
You will face no other
But the one person
Whom you refused to accept.
